The field of medicine is growing exponentially. Diseases that only twenty years ago would have caused certain death or disability are now relegated into the realm of chronic illness, allowing people to resume a normal life after, or even during, treatment. Some are even cured completely. This progress has been made possible by medical research, a partnership between physicians and patients who were willing to make a contribution to medical knowledge, often knowing that it would not be them, but someone in the future, who would benefit.
As a private practice of medicine, providing primary and specialty care to the community, Rockville Internal Medicine Group is not in a position to engage in most aspects of medical research. However, there are opportunities that arise when a novel treatment or innovation becomes available, and a select number of people might derive benefit from it before it would be generally available. And of course, post marketing surveillance of therapies already approved can provide important information.
We are currently participating in the following clinical trials:
- Cardiovascular Event Prevention
- Treatment for treatment resistant Hypertension
- Hyperlypidemia
- Insulin treatment options for Type II Diabetes
- Asthma Safety with Xolair Treatment
We will post new trials here when they become available.
Enrolling for 2009:

Atrial Fibrillation
High Blood Pressure
