  • Attention Smokers! RIMG now offers screening for early detection of lung cancer. You are eligible for screening if you are a current smoker or former heavy smoker, over age 50, or if you are currently not receiving annual CT scans for early detection of lung cancer. The screening involves a blood test and Chest CT scan.
  • Rockville Internal Medicine Group welcomed new physicians last Fall. Christopher Ko, MD, specializing in Internal Medicine, and Lynda Goldberg, DO, specializing in Family Practice, joined the practice in September 2011. Sara Brooks, MD, specializing in Dermatology, joined the practice in November 2011.

  • Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy. Visit our PRP website and learn more about Dr. Schainker's work with PRP Therapy at RIMG.   • RIMG is providing travel immunizations for patients traveling out of the country. If you are in need of such services, make an appointment with nurse practitioner, Kathy Hansen to discuss and receive the needed immunizations.   • Each Maryland County Health Department has local resources to help residents quit smoking. They provide cessation treatment or referrals as well as reduced cost or free cessation aids. You can access the county resources at www.smokingstopshere.com.

  • On Saturday, August 6, Dr. Mekonnen joined a panel of participants in a presentation and discussion on the Nervous System for the International Dementia Research Foundation. Dr. Mekonnen discussed the role of sleep and PTSD and advances in Home sleep studies.
  • Eating for a Healthier You. Rockville Internal Medicine Group presents a six-week series Eating for a Healthier You, taught by RIMG's Lori Shell, Registered Dietitian. Topics include weight loss, healthy dining out, grocery shopping, label reading and the effect of exercise on your body, blood pressure, and cholesterol level.
