Dr. Silverman is a technophile who still prefers hard copy books to virtual ones. His wife of 40+ years, Bonnie Holcomb, is an anthropologist. They have a son, Braden, who is a financial consultant at Charles Schwab in the Denver area.
Dr. Silverman is a native Washingtonian. He graduated from Haverford College, having majored in psychology. He worked in a U.S. Senate office for 2 years, before attending Tufts University School of Medicine. He returned to do his internal medicine residency at the Washington Hospital Center, where he was chief resident during his final year of residency. He worked in a community health clinic in Detroit for 2 years under the auspices of the National Health Service Corps. Returning to the DC area, he joined Group Health Association (later Humana Group Health Plan) and provided care at the Rockville office for 12 years. In 1995, he joined Rockville Internal Medicine Group.
Dr. Silverman is a member of the American College of Physicians. He has been listed as one of Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Doctors and Washington Consumers’ Checkbook Best Primary Care Physicians.
